Dashlane is a password manager and digital vault. It stores logins, payment card details, addresses, and other personal information in an encrypted vault, then autofills them into websites and apps through browser extensions and device apps. A built-in generator creates unique passwords for new accounts, and the vault syncs across a user's devices.

Beyond storage, Dashlane checks stored credentials against known data breaches and flags weak or reused passwords, offers AI-based warnings when a site looks like a phishing or scam attempt, and lets users share individual credentials with others without exposing the underlying password. Personal plans also bundle a VPN (built on Hotspot Shield) intended for use on public Wi-Fi networks.

Dashlane, Inc. sells this under two separate product lines: a personal password manager (Premium, and a Friends and Family plan covering up to ten people) aimed at everyday consumers, and a business line called Omnix aimed at IT and security teams managing credential risk across an organization. This entry covers the personal product, which is the one distributed as a Windows desktop app and browser extensions.

Anyone who wants a permanently free password manager should look elsewhere: Dashlane discontinued its free tier in September 2025, so a paid subscription is now required once the trial period ends.
