NordVPN

NordVPN is a virtual private network client from Nord Security that encrypts a device's internet connection and routes traffic through one of thousands of servers worldwide. This hides the user's real IP address and location, which can help bypass geographic content restrictions and secure connections on unencrypted networks such as public Wi-Fi.

Beyond the core VPN tunnel, the app bundles additional security tools: a threat protection feature that blocks known malicious sites, trackers, and ads; a kill switch that cuts internet access if the VPN connection drops; split tunneling to route only selected apps through the VPN; and Meshnet, which lets users set up private encrypted connections directly between their own devices. Higher-tier plans add antivirus scanning and a password manager as separate bundled applications rather than core VPN functionality.

NordVPN targets general users who want an added layer of privacy for browsing, streaming, or torrenting, rather than businesses needing enterprise network management (Nord Security offers separate business products for that). It is a subscription-only service with no permanent free tier; users evaluating it rely on the vendor's refund window rather than a trial account, with a narrow exception being a short trial offered only through Google Play on Android.
