HWiNFO is a diagnostic and monitoring utility that reads out detailed information about a Windows PC's hardware, including the processor, graphics card, motherboard, memory, storage drives and network adapters. It displays live sensor readings such as temperatures, voltages, fan speeds and clock frequencies, and can log this data to a file over time or expose it to other applications through shared memory, which is how many custom desktop dashboards (for example Rainmeter widgets) pull their hardware stats.

Beyond monitoring, the program can generate detailed hardware reports, run basic stability and performance tests, and trigger alerts or custom actions when a sensor value crosses a threshold. Both a Windows (32/64-bit and ARM64) build and a DOS-based version are available, the latter useful for inspecting hardware at a low level before an operating system is even installed.

The tool suits people who want a closer look at their system than Windows' own tools provide: overclockers, PC builders, IT technicians and hobbyists troubleshooting hardware issues. Casual users who just want a quick temperature readout may find its dense, table-heavy interface more detailed than they need.

The free version covers personal, non-commercial use and already includes full sensor monitoring and reporting. Using it in a business or other commercial setting requires a separate paid Pro license, which also unlocks extras such as command-line based logging, remote monitoring and unlimited shared-memory access.
